I use the word space as described in the 10th line item from Webster’s dictionary: the opportunity to assert or experience one’s identity or needs freely.
So, when I give space — I give space to others. I give space to myself.
Space for thinking. Space for feeling. Space for loving. Space for breathing. Space for healing. Space for being.
There is a bit of unknown in the space. Will the thought ever arrive? Will the feeling be one that we want? Will the love be just plain love? Will we be able to catch our breath? Will we ever begin to heal? Will we actually just be?
So often we want to rush. To run. To hurry up. To figure it out. To move forward.
When in reality, what we really need is space.
