The other day I was flipping through my photos stored on my phone and I came across a few from my last overnight visit to San Francisco in April of 2010.
For years — one of my favorite places to go is the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Waterfall Display in Yerba Buena Park.
It is a short, but oh-so-powerful, tribute to an amazing man.
Inscriptions of Dr. King’s quotes are etched in glass — and a water fall -create an envelope of pure poetic magic.
On the west wall is inscribed: No, No, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until ‘justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.’ Washington, D. C., 1963
On the east wall is inscribed: I believe that a day will come when all God’s children from bass black to treble white will be significant on the constitution’s keyboard. San Francisco, CA, 1956.
And in between are words of wisdom, insight, and conciousness translated into 13 different langauges.
What is your favorite Martin Luther King, Jr. quote?
